I develop projects that help people meet cultural material through sound, movement, sensory experience, making and imagination. The aim is not to over-explain an artwork or object, but to open multiple ways of encountering it.
Experience
My archive includes work connected with the National Gallery, Museum of London, British Museum, Wallace Collection, Manchester Art Gallery, Open City, Keats House and heritage projects exploring canals, architecture and place.
Selected projects
Museum of London & Riverside Special School
A five-week sensory project around the Victorian Pleasure Gardens, with composed music, live bassoon, voice, tactile materials and responsive interaction. Music was built in layers so it could be reduced to simple repeated patterns or expanded depending on the needs of the group that day.
National Gallery SEND Projects
Work with special schools and paintings including Tintoretto and Rousseau, using sound, movement, making and sensory response to create more than one way into an artwork.
Manchester Art Gallery & Ad Hoc Dance
Cross-arts performance work in the gallery, with bassoon used as a live, responsive part of the choreography and audience journey through the exhibition.
Canal Compositions
A place-based family and heritage project exploring life on the canal through listening, soundtracks, stories, maps, visual work and encounters with the local boating community.
